NOTE - a 30% deposit is payable before any booking can be confirmed. The balance of the rod fees must be paid on the day to the proprieter or his agent. Provisional bookings must be confirmed within the agreed time, otherwise the dates will be re-let. A 50% discount is available for children under 16 years of age. Regrettably no allowance can be made for adverse weather or river conditions. Deposits can be refunded if seven days notice is given and another let can be secured. Please contact us to negotiate group rates. The Gairha beat will support a maximum of four rods per day. Larger groups are welcome but only four rods may fish the beat at any one time. These rates are subject to any additional, post budget government levies. Group bookings must be paid in advance.

Ghillie fees

• Daily ghillie fees are €150 / day for the first rods and €20 for each additional rod (four rod limit.) Please note - you should pay the ghillie fees directly to your ghillie on a day by day basis.
• Daily tuition fees for beginners are €100 / day - payable directly to your instructor.
• All children under eighteen fish for free, including learners!

We pride ourselves on promoting ladies of all ages, so if you do not fish and would love to learn, then, we have professional fly fishing instructors on hand to teach the art of fishing with double or singlehanded fly rods.

• Dromana House & Gardens - perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the strikingly beautiful, unspoilt river Blackwater, Dromana is surrounded by a 600 acre privately owned estate with numerous woodland and garden walks. Several interesting historic follies are also to be seen throughout the grounds including an ancient outer fortification, boathouse and slipway down to the river. This period property is lovingly maintained by the 21st generation of the same family who have lived on this location since 1200.

• Tourin House & Gardens - three miles from Cappoquin and the Heritage town of Lismore, over 5 acres of rare, mature woodland and walled garden offer a beautiful seasonal display. The original historic sixteenth century tower house still stands and can be seen from the garden overlooking the river Blackwater.
  
  
• Lismore Castle - this historical gem on the Blackwater offers many distractions for both the fisherman and fisherman's widow alike!
  
  
• Fermoy - Fermoy is a small town (population approx. 5,000) situated in the centre of the lush Blackwater Valley. It is on the crossroads between the Rosslare/Killarney and Dublin/Cork routes. Renowned for inland fishing it is an attractive base to explore the history and amenities of North and East Co. Cork.
  
  
• Cork City - The ultimate shopping experience in this neck of the woods is but a 40 minute drive away!

On the first day you come fishing at Gairha we will arrange to meet you so that you can receive the latest river updates and a map of the beat. If you have requested the services of our ghilly then we'll also introduce you to him at that time. We will normally call you the night before and, depending on the latest river reports, will arrange to meet you in Ballyduff or just outside Lismore.
